About Me

My photo
Sydney, NSW, Australia
I am a 49 year old Indigenous Woman, proud mother of twin girls Bianca & Brooke hopelessly devoted Nana to Riley, Summer Joy & wife to David.

Koories come in all colours

I know I'm a Koori

I've learned it from my kin
But sometimes I'm questioned
On the colour of my skin.

I'm questioned on this by both
Black and White
My culture and identity are my legal right.

My Aboriginality
I've searched for so long
But the doubts of others
Make it hard to belong.

If you wouldn't make judgments
On just what you see
Then, maybe by chance
You'll see the real me.

" You have to know where you come from -to know where you are going?"

It's been awhile!

Hi all!

It has been awhile since my last post but have been fairly busy with work and the usual time consuming every day going ons. Xmas is fast approaching at a scary speed and I doubt I will every be prepared.
Summer is growing up really fast I will post some pictures to show you how much she has changed, the poor wee thing had her first injects yesterday and apparently was not that happy went really red and Brooke said it was so awful to watch as she screamed.  Jed our Jedi Warrior (cat) has been quite sick so Brooke had to take him to the vet. He has been given three injections and is being monitored in case he needs to go back and have some blood tests and be on a drip. Not sure what the problem was as he was not eating for 3 days and throwing up a fair bit.
Riley has been around a lot as we have looked after him whilst Bink has been doing 13 hour shifts. One night he slept over and kept saying "its dark outside" as his mum or dad are usually there before it becomes dark. He went to bed very easily and I was snapping away madly so much so that he had to say "enough now nan Riley is going to sleep".
I love all the little things that come out of his mouth, he can sound such a wise old thing, the other day his dad came to pick him up and he gave me the usual kisses and cuddles before leaving, I was waving goodbye and watching him walk down the path leading to the garage and I yell out "I love you so much Riley Hamilton" he stops looks at me and goes " give me one more kiss before I go Nan" too cute.

The other day as Bink was trying to get him to tidy his room he stopped her putting his hand up saying " Mummy enough you have to stay in the room and have 2 minutes time out" he left shutting the door behind him. (cheeky monkey).

I am looking forward to spending the holidays with my son in-laws parents and then having the usual Gissing get together on Boxing Day which will be held at Jeff and Maria's house this year.

If I don't blog before then "have a very happy holidays"!
