Tales of Riley

Twas on nana duty last night, Riley is such a joy but a totally exhausting one, where does that boy get all his energy from? Definitely not from Nan and Grandnan (so cute Riley can't say granddad, instead calls Dids Grandnan). I look on enviously at that energy and hope he realises youth is such a gift. At my age (49) I have aches and pains everywhere, my bones creak and my eyesight is not that great anymore. After having 20/20 vision all my life I now need glasses to read the packets in the supermarket, and the scary part is it happens so fast seemingly overnight. As it was Matt's birthday today Matt and Bianca went out to dinner with his family last night I think he is going to spend the day golfing. I haven't got a present as yet but I think he wants money to go toward a play station. Riley and I played as usual (my little shadow) and watched some of the Night Garden on the tube after dinner. Dids accused me of getting him over stimulated as we were playing games under the bed sheets with the torch; I was the kissing monster trying to steal lots of kisses. I was scared Riley was going to brain me with the torch he was waving around. He was going through the ABC's with me, I think he has to be a genius child (naturally) because I can not remember Brooke and Bianca being that smart at 2 years old and he only turned two on the 30th July 2009. Brooke is nearly due to have baby Sheppard so we are all getting quite excited except for Brooke I think she wants baby out now! The poor thing is having Braxton pains or something like that I think it's called, her nights are sleepless and when day comes the pain subsides, why everything more painful is at night I wonder. Anyway we are looking forward to the arrival of either Nixon David Sheppard or Summer Joy Sheppard. I can't wait to see how Riley reacts to his beloved Aunty having a baby will he feel threatened and jealous that’s aunties attention may be diverted or will he be the doting cousin...we shall see.
